Lahemaa National Park

All in all it was a great day, which i can definetly recommend. On our way back to Tallinn, we take a walk in Viru bog. Guardando sulla guida Lonely Planet, ho trovato City Bike che propone questo tour della Traveller. I absolutely recommend you to do that tour! It was great to get away from busy Tallinn and see the sights of Lahemaa national park. J'étais avec Marju qui est une excellente guide. The stops on this tour and the timings for each location were just right. Buses run from Tallinn and go to Otepää through the town of Tartu every 30 minutes.

She really made the trip come alive with interesting facts and personal stories. Not only was he knowledgeable with the history of Estonia, he is a fun guide as well. This tour caused definitely the wish to return to Estonia for more places at the countryside. Jevgeni was an entertaining and informative guide, and we especially enjoyed the stop at the kiiking swing and the amazing lunch at the Kasmu captain's cottage. A whirlwind trip through the countryside including old manor houses, waterfall, the bog boardwalk and hidden beaches.

Day Trip to Lahemaa National Park

I learned so much about Estonia as well as about the National Park from Liine's detailed responses to my questions. Ice skating is also possible when Puhajarv lake freezes during winter. The highlights of the day for me were walking across the Viru bog, which was beautiful, and visiting the coast. Our first stop is at Sagadi Manor, which helps us explain how German land-owners came to live in the Estonian countryside for centuries and give you some information about life outside of Tallinn, both in the past and the present. I very much enjoyed seeing the contrast between the unrenovated Kolga manor, with its massively looming crumbling pillars, set against the restored pretty-in-pink Sagadi manor, surely the backdrop for many Estonian weddings. We couldn't have done the trip ourselves. We visited the Jagala waterfall, followed a bog walk, explored Altja fishing village where we enjoyed a lunch of traditional Estonian food, and then went on to Sagadi manor.

We wanted to spend a day at Lahemaa but didnt know we would need an international drivers license to rent a car. We visited nearly everything I had on my personal list of places I wanted to see and I couldn't be happier about it. Recomendable no llevar comida y hacerla en el restaurante donde nos llevan, comida típica y a muy buen precio. Always look up — Lahemaa National Park in Estonia. The small group size was perfect and helped us strike friendly conversations not just with Berit but also our fellow travellers, who like Berit were local Estonians and extremely warm in their demeanor and sharing. Went to Lahemaa National Park on 2nd November, thoroughly enjoyed it! Whenever I plant a tree of blue berry, I will remember the Lahemaa National Park.

Day Trip to Lahemaa National Park

There were 6 people in our tour, and they don't take more than 8 people in the van, which is the perfect size. It was a relaxing way of visiting some of the more unspoilt parts of Estonia and was a great change from Tallinn city. Also scenic walks and spectacular nature views we had - all that accompanied in a group of 4 persons, very flexible and individual. The town itself is cozy and picturesque being surrounded by forests, hills, and valleys. Well-versed and knowledgeable, our Traveller's guide Olivier knows how to make an intermediation between these bogs, moss, blueberries and mushrooms growing in these forests and us, passengers.

Great trip, guides split group in two very knowledgeable. Our next stop was the old fishing village of Altja, on the Gulf of Ftnland, which was reached through undulating foreat roads. It is a perfect opportunity to see the nature, beautiful coasts and lush bogs and obtain a glimpse of Estonian history by visiting the romantic manors in the area. Well worth it, especially considering its free and only need to tip - which we certainly think she deserved. The day was wonderful from start to finish. Highlights included going behind Estonia's tallest waterfall, and swimming in a bog lake.
